Phase 1

Phase 1 spans the first two and a half years of medical school. This time is mainly spent in lectures learning biochemistry, anatomy, physiology and pathology; before you are let loose on real people. Although you do get to meet some patients in both GP and hospital the main focus is learning.

In Semester 1 and 2 (for the undergrads), lectures are in the mornings mainly from 9-2 (slightly earlier on a Wednesday). For those of you who like a lie in, in Semesters 3 and 4 lectures tend to start at 2. Obviously there is pre-reading and self study to do, but contact time is only for half a day. Semester 5 is a mixture of both mornings and afternoons, with Friday off, but still only half days.
